Our Argument:
New Mexico spends roughly two-thirds of the year on Daylight Saving Time and only one-third on Standard Time. In practice, Daylight Saving Time has become the default and Standard Time has become the exception.
Why We Support Permanent Standard Time
Those who prefer later evening daylight receive the benefit of a shifted clock for most of the year. Meanwhile, those who prefer more morning daylight, including students, teachers, parents, commuters, and early-morning workers, experience Standard Time only during the shortest days of the year.
We believe New Mexicans deserve one fair, consistent, year-round standard that works for everyone.
